I was just surfing my usual dailies and decided to take a walk outside the park and stumbled into this. The headlines caught my attention, "Vatican launches iPhone and Facebook applications" and so; in May 2009? Why was I not in the loop? Whoa, and here I thought I was spending too much time in Facebook. Even The Pope was spending time in Facebook with his Fb application, "The Pope Meets You on Facebook". You can even send virtual postcards to your friends with messages and speeches of The Pope embedded. Amazing! Here's the link.I feel proud that our Catholic Church recognizes the power of social media in the digital world and is encouraging the people to evangelize and spread the Gospel online!
Pope Benedict says,
Young people in particular, I appeal to you: bear witness to your faith through the digital world! Employ these new technologies to make the Gospel known, so that the Good News of God’s infinite love for all people, will resound in new ways across our increasingly technological world!So let's harness this technology to its fullest potential and share our faith in cyberspace!
